Brush your teeth in a circular motion, never rake over them as this can cause the gum to recede away from the surrounding tooth. You are literally brushing your gum away and you need to change the way you brush to correct any further damage. Healthy gums are pink with no red or swelling. It is not abnormal to have a bit of recession and this does not indicate gum disease, and generally, means you are brushing the wrong way. Common sense, if you have red, swollen gums that bleed its bad.

They are primarily referring to teeth that bleed regularly when you brush and floss. If you brush too hard or dig too deep with dental floss, this can cause a bit of bleeding so if this happens just be more gentle. If they bleed whenever you brush and floss then yes, you should see a dentist as soon as possible to prevent further problems in the future. FYI..whenever you consume fruit or fruit juices rinse your mouth out immediately following with a glass of water to stop the acidic reaction.

i'm 18 and when i brush my teeth it SOMETIMES bleeds, like once a month or once every 2 months, but honestly not often at all ..so..? o.0 im scared now haha even as a kid , like age 12 id brush it and would bleed, but my dentist never said i have problems ever :) so.. o.0 and..my teeth arent loose and..when i floss it goes down though...so..i think im ok :) ahh

I found it interesting watching THE BEAUTIFUL TRUTH, documentary that Dr. Max Gerson, wrote a book [1940's] based on his research from around the world people living primitive lifestyles eating from the earth never processed food, never a tooth bush or any or very little concept to teeth care, had fabulous beautiful white teeth.
