@RoflCopterAce They are not at all a hit squad, they're not swat either, I'm thinking they're DEA's armored response team, DEA agents who take down high profile situations like this, that'll explain their weapons. But then again, maybe they are Swat? Because if you see Oldman scream everyone, more cops come and amongst the regular beatcops come other cops who wear the same gear as the original entry team, which throws hitmen out. So this would dictate they are SWAT but just shitty wardrobe.

@karlosnod swat officers also die when they try to take out normal thugs. even if you're better trained there is a chance that someone kills you with his uzi in a small room. being specially trained is a bigger advantage if you're in military service. you fight your enemies more often over a big distance. i'm not a special forces guy but it makes sense to me that military special forces have less casualties than police special forces during an operation in which you have the moment of surprise.

cause if you remember stansfield is dea not NYPD so he could request there back up and tell them anything and at this point in the movie leon killed everyone in stansfield squad, also back in the 90's the police didn't get the money it does now so there equipment wasn't standard to everyone else, it was very common to have odd equipment aboard esu trucks. but really to the people complaining GET OVER IT, it's a movie. don't like it watch something else there are tons of other movies out there..

Did you guys know that everything Stansfield says about Beethoven and Mozart was improvised by Oldman and not in the script? The script said that after Stansfield looked on his watch the other guy should've come in, but the actor missed his point and Oldman started to improvise. @AppleAssassin Jean Reno and Luc Besson have been friends for a very long time (as they have been with Eric Serra as well) and Jean had always had minor roles in Luc Bessons movies but he really wanted a leading role & Besson saw how important it was to Jean so when he wrote the script to Leon he put a lot of thought and passion into his writing and before he even began writing he had Jean Reno in mind for the lead role. Mel Gibson and Keeanu Reeves wanted the part, thankfully neither got it
