@RaidenTheAlmighty 'nutrition gained from cooking food' Can u please back up your claims? USDA Table of Nutrient Retention Factors (2003) Minimum nutrient loss compared to raw food: Freeze/Dry/Cook Vitamin A- 5%/50%/25% Retinol Activity equivalent- 5%/50%/25% Alpha Carotene- 5%/50%/25% Beta Carotene- 5%/50%/25% Beta cryptoxanthin- 5%/50%/25%

@RaidenTheAlmighty ..cooking renders food pasty, so that it sticks to the teeth, and undergoes acid fermentation. Furthermore, the cooking of food greatly diminishes the need for use of teeth; and thus tends to diminish blood circulation to jaws and teeth, and to produce under-development of maxillary and contiguous bones-thus leading to contracted dental arches and malocclusion and impaction of teeth.- Forbes, E. B., The Ohio Journal of Science. Vol. 33, No.5 (Sept, 1933), 389-406

'I'm going to check these' Yeah, u give those a cursory view... After we go over those I'll provide more. 'but,,' Here we go... Data resistance. 'somehow I get the feeling' Drug addicts get 'feelings' too. 'you've? misquoted them' Again, give those a look before u develop a 'feeling'. One may find it easier to trust feelings on a biochemically compatible diet. 'they always seem to misquote studies' Back up your claim. 'Esophageal cancer mentions damage to mucosa' Aren't u perceptive! And??
By: RaidenTheAlmighty. on 04 Sep 10, 15:57:05
I'm going to check these, but somehow I get the feeling that you've misquoted them. I've had a few discussions with anti-GMO people and raw foodists and they always seem to misquote studies. In fact the article you cited about Esophageal cancer mentions damage to mucosa.
By: RaidenTheAlmighty. on 04 Sep 10, 15:53:12
No amount of "rich soil" will make up for the nutrition gained from cooking food. There are a few major differences between humans and our hominid ancestors. One thing we notice is the increase in brain size and another is the decrease in jaw size. Most people need to have their wisdom teeth removed because they grow in impacted. The amount of chewing required to process raw plant material increases the ware on tooth surface, increasing tooth decay.
By: Chrisisms. on 04 Sep 10, 15:29:28
'Cooking does destroy some nutrients' Most. Need evidence? 'but it also breaks down cell walls' Unfortunately it does destroy the fiber, which would help reduce disease risks in humans. 'unlocking more nutrients' Just eat from rich soil. 'easier to chew' A pill is easier to swallow too... 'Human teeth and jaw muscles have evolved to eat cooked food' False. 'we are loosing? our wisdom teeth' Brush your teeth.

"floras of vegetarians, damage was in both organs significantly lower than in the meat consumer"J Chromatogr B Analyt Technol Biomed Life Sci, 2004; 802(1): 211-5. ..meats, with prolonged exposure of intestinal mucosa to their toxins and carcinogens is responsible for emergence and prevalence of many disease..Journal of the American Medical Association. 229:1068, 1974 Int J Cancer. 2009 Aug 1;125(3):491-524.Coffee, tea and maté may cause esophageal cancer by thermal injury to esophageal mucosa.

Can you point me to any peer reviewed articles that support these claims about bacterial enzymes or cancer? Cooking does destroy some nutrients, but it also breaks down cell walls, unlocking more nutrients. It also makes food easier to chew. Human teeth and jaw muscles have evolved to eat cooked food, which is why we are loosing our wisdom teeth and our jaws are becoming smaller. It's also why raw foodists have more tooth decay than people who eat cooked food, because they chew more.

@BethuneGal 'i dont think i want to snack on raw celery or raw carrots' Either or fallacy. There is more to eat besides celery and carrots. If u think that is bad, try chemotherapy- the result of the omnivorous, cooked diet that is culturally popular.
By: Chrisisms. on 04 Sep 10, 14:41:34
@RaidenTheAlmighty 'What is the point of a raw food diet?' Health. Hot food kills beneficial bacterial enzymes beginning in the esophagus. This is why coffee and tea are positively correlated w/esophageal cancer and raw fruit is negative correlated w/this and other cancers. Also, cooked food denatures fat and protein, contributing to indigestion/hemorrhoids, constipation, colon cancer, etc. Most nutrients are destroyed when cooked. 'you can't deny the benefits of an omnivorous diet' u sure can!
By: RaidenTheAlmighty. on 28 Aug 10, 01:51:06
What is the point of a raw food diet? I can understand not wanting to eat pre processed food, but what exactly is the benefit of not cooking your food? Cooking food makes food easier to chew, digest and unlocks otherwise unattainable nutrients. And what would be the fundamental benefit of not eating meat? I'm not saying you should eat meat everyday, but you can't deny the benefits of an omnivorous diet.

I'm a teenager. when i'm hungry i dont think i want to snack on raw celery or raw carrots :S.
By: usmcslater. on 22 Aug 10, 01:07:21
now i can understand how raw foods is healthy for you (thats obvious) couldnt you intigrate meats/fruits/veggis in the diet, but obviously within moderation. Im in the military so im extremely active and i dont see having a shake with carrots and lemons in it will keep me energized through out the day (even if i did snack on like almonds or something) so basicully im asking could you intigrate a daily meal with like, *fresh* chicken and raw food shake. Just curious.

@johansilvaissososexy Try the "Death to Diabetes" diet and use his "calculator" to determine how many calories you need to sustain your current weight. It was developed by an engineer (Dwayne Mcculley) who almost died from diabetes with a blood sugar over 1300! He takes no medications. And you can watch him on Youtube.

baking and steaming are ways of cooking and olives are processed to make olive oil

@AptivaXL I know that immense amounts of heat denature food but I thought this video was specifically raw foods, not meat. It threw me off which is why I mentioned that. I've wanted to try vegan but the polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats in fish are a good choice.
By: AptivaXL. on 10 Aug 10, 15:56:59
@CamerOneiric There's someone like you on every video lol The point behind eating 'raw' is not about eating cold food. The point is to not heat the food to the point of killing the nutrients and vitamins. Steaming a carrot for a minute isn't going to kill the vitamins. I don't think it's a good idea to eat a raw hunk of fish unless you want to die next month.

I eat raw food and feel soooooo good, I guess I have to buy some more fruits today ;)
